We're looking for a Backend Software Engineer with a strong background in AI + real‑time audio to join our engineering team in China. You will play a key role in building and optimizing communication features that power high‑quality, low‑latency conversations for our global customers. Responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize real‑time audio/video streaming services Work with protocols such as WebRTC, SIP, RTP, or related technologies Ensure high performance, low latency, and fault‑tolerant communication pipelines Collaborate with frontend, mobile, and product teams to deliver seamless user experiences Write clean, scalable, and maintainable backend code Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to media services Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field 2‑4 years of backend development experience, ideally in real‑time communications (RTC) Proficiency in Go or Python Experience with audio/video codecs, streaming protocols, and media servers Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and distributed systems Strong problem‑solving and debugging skills Bonus Points Experience with WebRTC‑based platforms Experience with AI agents and voice LLM Knowledge of scaling media services for large user bases Contributions to open‑source RTC projects Why Join Us Be part of a dynamic, mission‑driven team that values collaboration, ownership, and innovation Opportunity to grow and learn from experienced senior engineers and tech leads Onsite working environment that fosters close mentorship and real‑time collaboration Exposure to building infrastructure that handles real‑world scale and complexity Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Wati by 2x Get notified about new Software Engineer jobs in Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR . #J-18808-Ljbffr
