Lead Software Architect, LearnWith.AI (Remote) - $200,000/year USD Base pay: $100/hr (equivalent to $200,000 per year). We build platforms relied upon by thousands of students and teams daily. TimeBack: An educational platform driving Alpha School's 2‑hour learning model (99th percentile test results). Incept: A content generation platform producing personalized educational material for multiple learning applications deployed at Alpha School. Crossover: An AI‑powered hiring platform handling tens of thousands of applicants monthly, staffing schools and companies worldwide. You will take ownership of one platform and dedicate the majority of your time to constructing the most complex components of the codebase with a small team (3–5 experienced engineers) with no junior developers. The architecture you define will dictate whether other teams can build new applications quickly, integrate seamlessly, and deliver value to students. Successful execution unlocks enormous leverage; poor decisions generate integration chaos and destroy velocity across multiple teams. Design, build, and operate your own systems. Set quality standards and define patterns for your platform. Our approach is spec‑driven: design precedes implementation, planning always comes before building. You’ll have high autonomy—no committees, no review boards. It’s a small, cohesive team where you’re accountable for your deliverables. What You Will Be Doing Technical Leadership: Drive strategic architectural choices and define technical patterns your team will follow. AI Leadership: Champion the adoption of emerging AI workflows and develop high‑impact playbooks. Implementation: Construct the complex, mission‑critical sections of the codebase with your team. Quality Reviews: Verify your team adheres to established patterns and upholds quality standards. What You Won’t Be Doing Acting as an architect without hands‑on implementation. Getting trapped in endless meeting cycles. Managing people (this role focuses on technical leadership, not people management). Maintaining legacy systems or internal IT infrastructure. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience building software products. At least 3 years in a lead engineer role (reviewing others’ work) or an architect position (making key technical decisions). Track record working on platform‑level products where other teams consumed your APIs. Strong engagement with AI tools, consistently experimenting and exploring new boundaries. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record.
