The Position You will be joining the Asia Claims Team, handling part of its expanding workload. You will be advising Members on the full range of both P&I and FD&D matters with considerable exposure to the regional fixed premium and charterer market. You will be close to the market and the first port of call for our Members, who you will be advising mostly in “real-time”. You must be able to understand and manage the cover, contractual and legal issues while focusing on getting matters resolved efficiently so that Members can get their business back on track as quickly as possible. You will also be working closely with colleagues in the Managers’ Shanghai office. In your capacity as Claims Executive, you will be expected to undertake reviews of the contracts entered by the Members, continuously monitor claims, handle and report these to the relevant Claims, Underwriting, and Business Development personnel in accordance with the Club’s guidelines. Given your proximity to the market, you will be required to build strong relationships with Members and Brokers, and promote the Club by attending and taking part in marketing efforts like seminars and events. You will also be asked to contribute with articles, bulletins, circulars etc. for marketing and loss prevention purposes. Expected Skills You will need to have considerable knowledge and understanding of the global shipping industry, in particular the marine insurance market. You will preferably have 4 to 10 years’ experience (and, ideally, educational background) in handling marine claims, whether in private practice, a marine insurance company, broking organization or with a ship management company to be considered for this position. It is an advantage but not a prerequisite if you are PRC, Common Law or Hong Kong qualified with between 2 to 8 PQE in shipping law.
