Add expected salary to your profile for insights We are looking for a strategic and compliance-savvy Virtual Asset Director to play a pivotal role in shaping and leading our virtual asset business. Reporting directly to the Head of VA Department, you will be instrumental in driving the department's growth, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance in Hong Kong's rapidly evolving market. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Execution: Assist the Head of Department in developing and executing the strategic vision and business plan for the virtual assets department. Ensure all departmental strategies and initiatives are fully aligned with the firm's overall business objectives. Regulatory Compliance & Governance: Oversee and ensure the department's strict adherence to all applicable Hong Kong virtual asset regulations, including the evolving frameworks set by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). Serve as a key subject‑matter expert on regulatory requirements, managing relationships with regulators and ensuring all licensed activities (e.g., Type 1, 4, 7, 9) are conducted in full compliance. Monitor global regulatory trends and anticipate their potential impact on our business in Hong Kong. Operational Management: Supervise the day‑to‑day operations of the virtual asset department, ensuring efficiency, risk management, and scalability. Provide leadership and oversight across critical functions, which may include trading operations, virtual asset product development, and the client onboarding process for our virtual asset services. Implement robust policies, procedures, and controls to mitigate operational and financial risks. Qualifications and Experience Required A proven track record in a senior leadership role within the virtual assets sector, with specific and extensive experience in the Hong Kong market. Direct, hands‑on experience with SFC‑regulated activities related to virtual assets is highly desirable. Familiarity with the licensing regime is a significant advantage. In‑depth, current knowledge of Hong Kong's and global virtual asset regulatory framework, including the SFC's requirements for virtual assets and proposed regulatory developments. Experience in market making and liquidity provision is highly regarded. A relevant university degree in Finance, Fintech, Blockchain Technology, or a related field. Ideal Candidate Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a high‑performing team. Strong commercial acumen and a results‑driven mindset. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, clients, and regulators.
