Role Database Engineer (Linux (On-prem) - PostgreSQL and SQL Servers) As a Database Engineer, you will be a key member of the global database team responsible for supporting, administering, and securing mission‑critical databases across the firm. You’ll work closely with users across trading, research, and technology to design, optimize, and maintain high‑performance database systems that keep the business operating at peak efficiency. This role offers exposure to the full breadth of database engineering—from high availability and capacity planning to data warehousing, performance tuning, and modern system design. You will play an integral part in shaping the reliability, speed, and scalability of the firm’s data platforms. Responsibilities Support, maintain, and secure production databases across PostgreSQL and SQL Servers. Collaborate with users across the business to define and resolve information flow, data structure, and content issues. Translate business requirements into robust, scalable database solutions. Contribute to the design and development of cutting‑edge systems that support trading and research operations. Manage database performance, monitoring, disaster recovery, and capacity planning. Implement and enforce industry best practices across security, permissions, and data governance. Participate in high‑availability initiatives, including Always‑On configurations and other HA/DR systems. Support data warehouse environments and contribute to schema and database design. Requirements 5+ years of hands‑on experience in production database administration. Experience with Linux (on‑prem environments). Strong experience with at least two of the following: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle (Oracle experience is accepted if willing to pick up PostgreSQL/SQL Server). Solid understanding of database monitoring, analysis, disaster recovery, and performance tuning. Experience with database programming languages such as SQL, T‑SQL, PSQL, and familiarity with BI services (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS). Experience managing database security, access, and permissions. Scripting skills in PowerShell or Shell; Python experience is a plus. Cloud database administration experience is an advantage. Strong organizational skills, proactive mindset, and the ability to work in a high‑pressure environment with excellent time management.
