Sustainability Technologist - Social compliance and projects This position is responsible for leading and managing factory social compliance projects and driving impactful carbon reduction initiatives within the sustainable hard goods sector. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in ethical audits, preferably with a background in third‑party auditing or buying/trading offices, focusing on supply chain or product compliance. Strong project leadership and social compliance management abilities are essential for success in this role. Key Responsibilities Lead social compliance programs within factory settings, ensuring adherence to both international and internal standards for health, safety, social accountability, environmental management, risk management, ethics, and worker empowerment. Design and implement improvement plans with suppliers and factories to continually raise compliance and sustainability standards. Champion and deliver carbon reduction projects, including planning, performance tracking, and coordinating across cross‑functional teams and external partners. Conduct ethical audits and evaluations (internal or third‑party), communicating results with actionable recommendations to management and stakeholders. Develop and monitor KPIs related to environmental and social compliance performance, reporting progress to internal and external partners. Act as a link between suppliers/factories and corporate buying offices, translating sustainability and compliance strategies into operational improvements. Stay up-to-date with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practices, supporting continuous training and capacity building for stakeholders. Participate in strategic planning and risk analysis for sustainability and compliance in procurement and product development. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting on project progress, compliance metrics, risk analysis, and next‑step recommendations. Required Experience & Background Proven experience in ethical auditing or social compliance, either from a third‑party auditor or within buying/trading offices focused on the supply chain or product sourcing. Demonstrable track record in leading carbon reduction or sustainability projects for hard goods manufacturing and supply chains. Strong project management and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to drive initiatives across different cultural and organizational contexts. Open educational background, but relevant experience in sustainability, compliance, trading, procurement, or product management is preferred. Deep understanding of social compliance protocols and international ethical auditing standards. Familiarity with carbon reduction methodologies, offsetting, and relevant environmental technologies. Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills to effectively present findings and recommendations to diverse audiences. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, with a proactive approach to problem‑solving and process improvement.
