Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the settlement function across the APAC region, with flexibility for the role to be based in either Singapore or Hong Kong.
  • Oversee daily settlement processes for various asset classes, including equities, derivatives, fixed income, and other financial products.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance settlement accuracy, reduce operational risks, and increase efficiency.
  • Promptly resolve trade discrepancies, exceptions, and reconciliation issues.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (front office, risk management, compliance, technology) to streamline settlement workflows.
  • Maintain and foster strong relationships with external partners, including custodians, brokers, and clearing houses.
  • Stay current with regulatory requirements, market practices, and settlement technologies in the APAC region.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of settlement professionals, providing guidance, training, and career development opportunities.
  • Work with senior leadership to implement strategic initiatives and support operational goals across the APAC region.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in settlement operations within the financial services industry, with expertise in the APAC markets (Singapore and Hong Kong).
  • Strong understanding of securities settlement processes, clearing mechanisms, and regulatory frameworks in Singapore, Hong Kong, and the broader APAC region.
  • Proven leadership capabilities in managing and developing teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and external partners effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk management principles and operational controls.
  • Familiarity with settlement platforms, trading technologies, and operational tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin is advantageous.
