The Fitness Centre Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Fitness Centre, ensuring supervision, cleanliness, and safety. This includes overseeing the proper use of equipment, adherence to safety standards, and maintaining a positive environment. The supervisor will inspect equipment, provide routine upkeep, and report issues to facilities management and the Director of Activities & Athletics. Additionally, they will administer fitness orientations and develop programs to meet the varied needs of students and adults. The supervisor will also collaborate with our athletic trainer, physical education department, and sports coaches to integrate resistance training into physical education classes and athletic programs.KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:Fitness Centre and Exercise Room Supervision:Supervise users (e.g. students, colleagues, and guests) to maintain a safe and positive atmosphere.Routinely walk around the facility areas to ensure proper machines and equipment.Enforce rules, regulations, protocols, and safety standards to minimize accidents and injuries.Report unsafe or unusual observations to the Director of Activities & Athletics and/or facilities management.Equipment and Room Maintenance:Perform routine maintenance and ensure regular cleaning of all equipment and machines.Evaluate equipment and notify facilities management or maintenance provider when repairs are necessary.Maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the Fitness Centre and Exercise Rooms.Fitness Programs:Ensure training programs are suitable for relevant strength or fitness levels and experience (e.g. novice, intermediate, advanced).Train students and adults in proper equipment use, lifting form, and protocols.Rehabilitation and First Responder:Support the rehabilitation of student athletes and colleagues through rehabilitation programs.Act as a First Responder in the event of an injury and coordinate with the Athletic Trainer, School Nurse, and Administration with immediate care.Other Responsibilities:Provide assistance as needed for the smooth operation of the school.Adapt working hours to meet facility use demands and varied daily hours.Undertake other duties to support the Activities & Athletics office and overall operations.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Certified in Sports Science, Sports Management, Sports Coaching preferred but not essential.Certified personal trainer or fitness instructor possessing ACSM, AFAA, NASM, NSCA, PICP, ISSA, ACE, or equivalent.First Aid and CPR certification.Experience:Minimum 2 years of experience training students and adults with various fitness levels.Experience working in a Fitness Centre.Experience developing varied training programs and safety protocols.Skills:Ability to work with students under the age of 18.Knowledge and skill in using varied athletic and fitness equipment.Ability to evaluate and assess individual fitness levels.Effective communication (written and verbal) and collaboration skills.High level of interpersonal skills, relating well to students, faculty, parents, and community members.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications ideally on a Mac.Strong organizational and time management skills.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONAs a school grounded in the Christian faith, we hire Christian teachers and administrators as well as those of other faiths.
