About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Strategic Project Director to lead our X-Ray Systems projects in Japan. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

The primary objective of this role is to manage and deliver projects effectively, ensuring that all project management procedures are adhered to and that internal and external project tasks are monitored and managed to ensure successful completion.

The ideal candidate will have excellent project management skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. They will also have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be proficient in Japanese and English.

In addition to project management responsibilities, the Strategic Project Director will provide advice to customers and distributors on processes and best practices for installation and commissioning of equipment, as well as liaise between customers, distributors, and the factory to resolve matters related to equipment deliverables and technical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • To develop detailed project work plans, including scope statements, time schedules, cost estimates, etc.
  • To monitor and manage internal and external project tasks to ensure successful completion.
  • To develop and execute an internal and external communication plan for each project.
  • To provide advice to customers and distributors on processes and best practices for installation and commissioning of equipment.
  • To liaise between customers, distributors, and the factory to resolve matters related to equipment deliverables and technical requirements.
  • To work closely with local teams, sub-contractors, and the factory to ensure equipment are well maintained and operating at optimum level.
  • To plan, manage, and maintain adequate spare parts stock for equipment supported.
  • To develop cost estimates for new and recurring service contracts.
  • To ensure the service team provides correct and prompt technical advice to customers and escalates as required.
  • To liaise with APAC Management to plan and allocate required resources to carry out service jobs.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering (Electronics preferred) or in Management.
  • At least 15 years of work experience, with at least 5 years of project management and people management experience with an international organization.
  • Excellent project management skills and organizational skills.
  • PMP certification or equivalent.
  • Japanese certificates will be preferable.
  • An understanding of computers and operating systems, with some IT network knowledge will be an added advantage.
  • Work experience in x-ray systems (i.e. medical or security), baggage handling systems, IT, building control systems, building automation systems, or defence and security related environment would be an advantage.
  • Team player with the ability to prioritize and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills for both internal and external communication, and good at establishing and maintaining good relationships with customers.
  • Proficiency in Japanese and English (both written and oral).
  • Ability to make sound business decisions independently.
  • Ability to travel within Asia, sometimes at short notice.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is approximately ¥12,000,000 per annum, plus benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid vacation time.
