Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Policy Manager to join our team at The Bank of East Asia. As a key member of our Accounting Policy team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our financial reporting and disclosure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Expertise on Accounting Standards: Offer guidance on accounting standards and regulations that impact financial reporting and disclosure, ensuring our bank remains compliant and up-to-date.
  • Support Statutory Reporting: Assist in the preparation of annual and interim statutory reports, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Collaborate with Auditors: Work closely with internal and external auditors to address system audit and statutory audit requirements.
  • Resolve Accounting Issues: Effectively resolve accounting issues with internal departments and group entities, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Develop Accounting Treatments: Develop and implement accounting treatments for new products, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Conduct Post-Launch Reviews: Conduct thorough reviews of accounting entries for new products, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Update Accounting Policies: Maintain and update accounting policies and guidelines, ensuring they remain relevant and effective.
  • Review Hedge Accounting: Review and assess hedge accounting documentation and treatment, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Review Lease Calculations: Review and assess lease calculations and accounting treatment under HKFRS 16, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Review Fair Value Options: Review and assess the application of fair value options and FVOCI elections under HKFRS 9, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Review Financial Asset Evaluations: Review and assess the evaluation of financial assets within the Held to Collect business model and the assessment of SPPI Test under HKFRS 9, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Update Valuation Guidelines: Maintain and update guidelines on the valuation of financial instruments, ensuring they remain relevant and effective.
  • Provide Updates on FRS and Disclosures: Provide regular updates on FRS and disclosures, ensuring our bank remains informed and compliant.
  • Participate in Accounting Projects: Participate in and coordinate accounting-related projects, ensuring their successful completion.
  • Balance Controls and Operations: Balance the strengthening of necessary controls with the streamlining of operation procedures, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
Requirements:
  • Education: University graduate in Accounting or Finance.
  • Qualifications: Qualified accountant/HKICPA or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Over 3 years' experience in banking/accounting/auditing, covering:
    • At least 3 years of experience in accounting fields.
    • Good experience in devising accounting treatments and resolving accounting issues.
    • Sound knowledge in banking operations and accounting standards.
    • Good understanding of relevant Group policies, procedures, practices, and rules.
    • A team player with good communication skills and risk awareness.
  • Language Skills: Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese, fluency in Mandarin is preferable.
