The museum comprises 7,800 square meters of gallery space for standing and special exhibitions on Palace Museum's collections of paintings, calligraphy, antiquities, and historical objects, as well as thematic displays on world cultures and civilizations.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant Project Manager in the Curatorial Affairs department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the planning and implementation of the HKPM's Chinese object study training program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and implementation of the HKPM's Chinese object study training program, including workshops, lectures, and study visits;
  • Conduct day-to-day administrative tasks, including preparing project memos and plans, emails, and letters; interim reports and regular reports; organizing local and international travels, applying for visas, and organizing meetings;
  • Prepare and monitor budgets and track project financials, providing analysis and reports; process reimbursement claims;
  • Manage project calendars and track the progress of projects;
  • Coordinate with the Museum's Curatorial Affairs, Conservation and Collection, Learning and Engagement, and other teams;
  • Collaborate with the Museum's Learning and Engagement team to plan and implement public-facing projects related to the HKPM's Chinese object study training program;
  • Serve as a liaison between the HKPM and sponsors, as well as other stakeholders;
  • Help build a network of scholars, professors, university graduate students, sponsors, and establish strong relationships with them;
  • Perform other duties to support the Curatorial Affairs and other sections, as assigned by the supervisor when deemed necessary.

Requirements:

  • Possess a recognized university degree, preferably in Chinese art history and archaeology, heritage/collection management, conservation/conservation science, material culture, Chinese history, culture studies, museum studies, education, arts administration, or other relevant disciplines;
  • Possess strong interests in Chinese art and culture, and preferably some knowledge about working directly with art objects in museums, universities, or other organizations;
  • Preferably have 5 years or more of relevant work experience conducting research or teaching, and/or project/event management or coordination (preferably for activities such as teaching/curriculum design, conferences, lectures, study trips in museums, galleries, universities, or other cultural or educational institutions);
  • Possess proficiency in office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat;
  • Possess good problem-solving skills and communication skills;
  • Possess proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, with good command of Putonghua;
  • Pay attention to details and be self-motivated and organized;
  • Be available and willing to work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays, for events if necessary.
