Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join our Histology team at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The successful candidate will contribute to our research efforts in understanding the roles of biomarkers in Alzheimer's Disease and their contribution to disease pathogenesis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process, stain, image, and provide basic interpretations of tissue images;
  • Implement and/or optimize existing protocols and bioimage analysis pipelines with documentation;
  • Undergo necessary training to acquire technical expertise as required;
  • Maintain good records of experimental data and perform analysis;
  • Perform general project administrative tasks, including equipment maintenance and maintaining stocks of research supplies;
  • Provide support in manuscript preparation and presentations as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Bio-(medical) Engineering and Life Sciences, including Biology/ Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Biomedical Sciences/Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or a related field;
  • A creative mind with curiosity, and willing to learn new techniques and software;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-oriented with the ability to work proactively;
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize own work in response to deadlines;
  • Experience in tissue handling and histology, and basic laboratory skills in molecular biology and neuroscience (genotyping, immunostaining, microscopy, etc.) is desirable.
