Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Theatre Technician to join our Technical and Production Team at the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient running and maintenance of our technical operations, including AV/IT, Audio, Stage, and Lighting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the effective management of technical requirements, ensuring compliance with our high standards of delivery and safety protocols.
  • Support the Technical and Productions Team in the planning and execution of technical operations, including venue management and production logistics.
  • Implement preventative maintenance works, manage technical storage, and maintain stock control of our theatre's technical equipment and infrastructure.
  • Participate in ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, Health & Safety procedures, and statutory regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with current theatre technology and industry best practices, and assist in delivering staff inductions and training assessments within your department.

Requirements:

  • Hold a minimum of 5 subjects at Level 2/Grade E or above in the HKDSE/HKCEE or equivalent academic qualification, and have a minimum of 1 year of technical experience in theatre, including experience in the operation and maintenance of theatrical equipment and theatre infrastructure.
  • Have adequate IT skills, including an understanding of Outlook, Office, Excel, and AutoCAD.
  • Possess experience of working in a professional theatre or performing arts environment, and have a strong understanding of modern theatre production techniques.
  • Be able to work well within the production team, remain calm, positive, and professional under pressure, and have excellent communication skills.
  • Have knowledge of safe working practices and legislation in the theatre environment, and experience of operating and maintaining stage machinery, systems, etc.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken Chinese and English.
