About the Position

\

We are seeking a skilled Building Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at Shenendehowa Central School District. The successful candidate will have a strong background in commercial building maintenance and repairs, including mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, heating/cooling, and masonry responsibilities.

\

Key Responsibilities

\

The key responsibilities of this position include:

\
  • \
  • Maintenance and repairs of buildings, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems\
  • Installation of wiring and cabling\
  • Carpentry and woodworking\
  • Plumbing and HVAC repairs\
  • Masonry and concrete work\
  • Painting and snow removal as needed\
  • Maintaining both interior and exterior of District facilities\
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned\
  • Utilizing work order system to identify tasks/jobs, record time and materials, and update status of tasks/jobs and/or projects\
  • Assisting operations and grounds departments as needed\
  • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration\
  • Exhibiting mechanical aptitude, dependability, thoroughness, good judgment, mental alertness, tact, and courtesy\
  • Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position\
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb/stand on tall ladders, and work in tight spaces\
  • Must possess and maintain NYS Driver's License appropriate for the type of vehicle operated\
  • Thorough working knowledge of the practices, processes, materials, tools, and equipment used in the trade for which experience is gained\
  • Ability to understand and carry out both verbal and written directions\
  • Interpret plans diagrams, and architectural blueprints\
  • Working knowledge of one or more additional trades\
  • Four year's work experience in commercial building construction or maintenance in one or more of the skilled trades\
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED)\

Requirements and Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following requirements and qualifications:

  • \
  • High school graduation or GED equivalent\
  • One year experience as a journeyman in one of the recognized skilled trades\
  • Good working knowledge of one or more additional trades\
  • Four year's work experience in commercial building construction or maintenance in one or more of the skilled trades\
  • Thorough working knowledge of the practices, processes, materials, tools, and equipment used in the trade for which experience is gained\
  • Ability to understand and carry out both verbal and written directions\
  • Interpret plans diagrams, and architectural blueprints\
  • Working knowledge of one or more additional trades\
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration\
