Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health and welfare of research animals, providing clinical care, and investigating animal welfare issues. Key duties include:
- Providing regular animal training to users, including surgery, drug administration, and anesthesia.
- Investigating animal welfare issues, including overcrowding, injury, and post-surgery care.
- Providing health inspection training to technical staff.
- Assisting with ethical issues and clearance related to animal research.
- Ensuring the safety of animal users engaged in the use of chemicals and drugs.
- Preparing documents for AAALAC accreditation.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent, with at least 10 years' experience in laboratory animal science and medicine. Registration with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Hong Kong is required. Familiarity with surgically-induced disease models and international standards of animal care is essential.
RequirementsThe successful candidate will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine or equivalent.
- At least 10 years' experience in laboratory animal science and medicine.
- Registration with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Hong Kong.
- Familiarity with surgically-induced disease models.
- Good knowledge of international standards of animal care.
City University of Hong Kong offers a highly competitive remuneration package, including a gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes. The appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
