Design Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Manager to join our team at the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and design management process for our Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the design process for PPP projects, ensuring quality, cost, and time are met.
  • Develop and implement design strategies to achieve project goals.
  • Collaborate with design consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Review and approve design submissions, variations, and claims.
  • Ensure design team members work efficiently and effectively in managing design consultants and contractors.
  • Work closely with the District's Authorized Person and Planning Managers to resolve land, development potential, and planning aspects.
  • Support the Project Procurement and Control Department in presenting key design cost and time issues to the Chief Projects Officer and the Authority's Change Control Committee.

Requirements:

  • Recognized university degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering, or related design discipline.
  • Professional membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • At least 15 years of post-qualification experience, including management of major building projects.
  • Extensive experience in managing time, cost, and quality issues throughout the design process.
  • Thorough understanding of design, design management, and multi-disciplinary design integration.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken Chinese and business English.
