Job Summary

The Vocational Training Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Instructor of Culinary Arts to join our team. As a key member of our training faculty, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality training programs in Western Bakery and Pastry to students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct classes and practical training sessions, including supervision of students' projects, Workplace Learning Assessment, and Integrated Learning Experience/Work-Integrated Learning.
  • Prepare and update training materials, and assist in curriculum development to ensure that our programs remain relevant and effective.
  • Deliver catering and culinary services to hotel guests and members of the general public during daily operations, providing a high-quality experience that reflects the standards of our institution.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training-related records, and ensure that inventory is properly stored and managed.
  • Assist in the routine maintenance of equipment and facilities, ensuring that our training kitchens and other facilities are safe and well-maintained.
  • Support the recruitment and placement of students, working closely with our admissions team to ensure that we attract and retain top talent.
  • Contribute to the effective running of training programs, special events, and culinary competitions, working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver exceptional results.

Requirements

  • A recognized higher diploma in Western Bakery and Pastry or equivalent, with a Hygiene Manager Certificate or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 3 years' relevant experience in the hotel/catering industry and/or teaching, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality training programs.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese, with the ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs.
  • Good knowledge of basic computer applications, with the ability to use technology to enhance the learning experience.
  • Ability to pass a trade test, demonstrating a high level of skill and competence in Western Bakery and Pastry.

Notes

  • Candidates without the required academic qualifications but with 8 years' relevant experience may also apply, subject to meeting the Qualifications Framework (QF) Level 3 qualification requirements.
  • Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic/professional qualifications, or those with exceptional academic/professional qualifications but with less experience, may also be considered.
  • The appointee may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and in designated places as assigned.
  • In support of the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) Scheme, all prospective appointees will be requested to undergo the SCRC at the advanced stage of the employment process.
