Job Description
The Theatre and Events Technician will be responsible for planning, organising and carrying out logistical and technical activities for the HKA Theatre and the Performing Arts Department. This will include actively contributing to the efficient running and maintenance of the Theatre in a safe and professional manner, collaborating creatively with the Performing Arts team for production design, and providing logistical support to HKA faculty and staff for grade level, Primary & Secondary School and Whole School events and theatre rentals.

Key responsibilities will include undertaking varying roles to meet performance and rehearsal requirements in an educational setting, supporting and coordinating event set-up, assisting in creating digital media for events and content to showcase learning, and keeping up to date with current theatre technology and industry best practices.

The ideal candidate will have a High School qualification with working experience in professional theatre operations, performing arts, or a related field. A preferred accredited diploma or certificate in Technical Arts or recognised tertiary education is also desirable. Strong I.T. skills, video editing and filmmaking experience, and proficiency in English are essential, as is the ability to work with students in an educational setting.

Candidates should also possess strong organisational and communication (verbal and written) skills, be self-directed and flexible, and be able to think creatively and solve problems effectively. Experience of operating and maintaining stage machinery, theatre flying systems, theatre technical equipment such as lights, sound, projector and show control equipment is also highly valued.
