The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Histology team. The successful candidate will contribute to understanding the roles of biomarkers in the dysregulation of Alzheimer's Disease and their contribution to disease pathogenesis.
Main Responsibilities
- Process, stain, image, and provide basic interpretations of tissue images;
- Implement and/or optimize existing protocols and bioimage analysis pipelines with documentation;
- Undergo necessary training to acquire technical expertise as required;
- Maintain good records of experimental data and perform analysis;
- Perform general project administrative tasks, including equipment maintenance and maintaining stocks of research supplies;
- Provide support in manuscript preparation and presentations as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Bio-(medical) Engineering and Life Sciences, including Biology/ Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Biomedical Sciences/Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or a related field;
- A creative mind with curiosity, and willing to learn new techniques and software;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-oriented with the ability to work proactively;
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize own work in response to deadlines;
- Experience in tissue handling and histology, and basic laboratory skills in molecular biology and neuroscience (genotyping, immunostaining, microscopy, etc.) is desirable.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in translational research, with a primary focus on neuropathological alternations at the cutting-edge microscopic level.
