The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join their team. The appointee will be responsible for working in an engineering center on the development of wastewater engineering technologies, with a focus on combined processes treating organic waste and wastewater.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement good laboratory practice and ensure the highest standards of research integrity.
  • Collaborate with the Scientific Officer to support research, administration, and management of the Center and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate multiple research projects with various parties and ensure timely delivery.
  • Develop and commercialize research initiatives, including organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences.
  • Prepare project documents, including proposals, plans, and reports.
  • Perform other ad hoc tasks as required.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Engineering or a related discipline, with at least 3-5 years of relevant experience as a laboratory scientist. A good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua) is essential. Experience in computational drawing skills using AutoCAD, Revit, Sketchup, and SolidWorks is preferred.

The appointee will receive a competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, including annual leave, medical and dental benefits, will be provided. Housing benefits will also be available where applicable. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of the contract.
