Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Part-time (Daytime / Evening) Lecturer in Chinese and Putonghua to join our team at the Vocational Training Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Chinese language and culture courses to students, as well as contributing to the development of curriculum and teaching materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • To teach Chinese language and culture courses to students, including supervision of students' projects and fieldwork placement;
  • To develop and implement curriculum and teaching materials for Chinese language and culture courses;
  • To participate in departmental projects and functions, including consultancy services, research studies, seminars, and exhibitions;
  • To carry out duties in relation to student and academic administration;
Requirements
  • A recognised degree in Chinese Language / Chinese Language and Literature / Language Studies (Chinese) / Chinese Linguistics / Education (Chinese), preferably with post-graduate qualifications;
  • A recognised degree in Translation / Teaching Chinese as a Second Language or as a Foreign Language;
  • Grade B, Level 2 or above in the Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) – Putonghua Proficiency Test administered by the State Commission on Language Work, or equivalent;
  • At least 3 years' relevant teaching experience;
  • Good communication and presentation skills;
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are immediately available.
Notes
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered for the post of Part-time (Daytime / Evening) Assistant Lecturer in the rank of "Teaching Associate".
  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written assessment.
  • The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal working hours and/or outside campus.
