About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our team at Clover Health, a leading healthcare technology company. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a key role in transforming the healthcare industry by building innovative software solutions that improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and leadership to the engineering team, driving technical directions and setting standards for the team.
  • System Design: Design and develop complex systems that multiply human efforts, simplifying the complexities of healthcare.
  • Tooling and Technology: Introduce new tools and technologies to solve problems and move our goals forward, ensuring the team has the right tools to succeed.
  • Development Practices: Lead the team in defining and maintaining development practices that enable quick iteration while maintaining quality, including writing tests and documenting key implementations.
  • Feature Development: Work with Product Managers and operational staff to conceptualize new features with minimal oversight, ensuring the team is aligned with business goals.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical leadership and guidance for the engineering team, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
Requirements
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience with functional or imperative programming languages, such as Python, Ruby, Go, C, or Java.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in working with a wide variety of databases, including SQL, NoSQL, distributed databases, and other relevant technologies.
  • System Development: Ability to build and maintain complex systems, including distributed systems and RESTful APIs.
  • Security: Strong understanding of security best practices in web development, including knowledge of common vulnerabilities and mitigation techniques.
  • Collaboration: Ability to influence downwards and upwards, and to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
