A Secondary School Science and Math Teaching Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Secondary School Science and Math Teacher to join our team at Hong Kong Adventist Academy. As a key member of our academic staff, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Science and Math courses adopted by the Hong Kong EDB and Griggs' standards.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Ensure HKAA achieves goals set for the Science and Math departments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to prepare students for college and career.
  • Align student assessment with instructional goals appropriate to the needs of the student.
  • Provide a safe and optimal learning environment, both in the classroom and laboratory.
  • Support school-wide focus areas and embed these in Science and Math subject practices.
  • Use pedagogically appropriate technological tools in the teaching and learning process.
  • Coordinating with the Science and Math department heads and Registrar to review, verify, and recommend digital and physical textbooks and library books.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree or higher in Science/Math with a teaching certificate.
  • A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in high school.
  • Desirable: Teaching experience in Advanced Placement Science/Math subjects.
  • Demonstrable evidence of creating/innovating/adapting high school curricula to engage teenagers.
  • Experience with designing and implementing effective and creative inquiry-based units of study.
  • Experience in managing classrooms with diverse students and different learning abilities (including students with special needs).
  • A passion for education and Science/Math subjects.
  • A solid understanding of secondary school program organization, programs, and students.
  • A proven ability to differentiate instruction and integrate learning.
  • A positive, client-centric, and service-oriented attitude, with a commitment to the Christian mission of HKAA.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Additional benefits include health care and life insurance, housing subsidy, and educational subsidy for your children who study at HKAA.
