About the Role

Mace is seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead our consult business and drive exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and project compliance standards. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction, and monitoring delivery aligned with our overall vision and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.
  • Champion a diverse and inclusive working environment and understand the importance of the wellbeing of the people you manage.
  • Be a recognized expert in PMO and Project Controls, with a strong internal and external network (e.g. clients, contractors, consultancies, and other stakeholders).
  • Have full budgetary oversight and ensure operations are fiscally and ethically viable and meet organizational and legislative compliance obligations.
  • Directly influence long-term development of strategy for a function or Business Unit (BU), creating a sustainable business future.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop your project team and provide an environment to share knowledge and experience.
  • Actively network, innovate, and seek understanding of best practice, utilizing the full depth of knowledge of Mace group, the centres of excellence, Mace way control centre, and knowledge bub.
Requirements
  • Significant experience of effective PMO and project controls leadership on significant/landmark/mega construction projects.
  • Significant experience of leading the effective deployment of robust PMO and project controls strategies/frameworks and integrated project controls methodologies.
  • Expert knowledge of risk tools, techniques, and software (e.g. MS office and Power BI, Aconex, Primavera P6, and RiskHive).
  • Ability to manage activities with significant uncertainty or ambiguity providing effective consultancy to clients and other key stakeholders to drive effective outcomes.
  • Strong business development skills and commercial awareness/acumen (e.g. cross-selling Mace services into client organizations).
  • Strong understanding of construction and related industry, trends, innovation, and associated threats and opportunities.
  • Deep domain knowledge of providing PMO and project controls leadership in collaboration with external bodies, professional institutions, and peers.
