About the role

The Lead UI/UX Designer must be a great leader who can maximize the talents of the team. This means being a coach, instructor, team leader, and critic all at once.

The Lead UI/UX Designer works with User Experience Designers, Visual Designers, User Researchers, Front End Engineers, Business Analysts, Copywriters, and other Marketers to ensure the full experience of the UI/UX of the website, web application, or mobile application is being taken care of.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain ownership of the product vision and roadmap and improve the product development process.
  • Lead the team in expanding mastery of the business goals of each design request and push back on stakeholders with innovative UX/UI proposals.
  • Demonstrate high-quality design practices, including participation in all aspects of UX: research, ideation, strategy, interaction design, and visual design.
  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks.
  • Empower and mentor designers in the team, fostering a collaborative, productive, and positive environment.
  • Lead design strategy activities to understand user needs and business opportunities.
  • Maintain and further build design team workflows that ensure all designs delivered are in line with style guides and are of high quality standards.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the company while managing a large volume of ongoing projects.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of industry experience as a UI/UX designer and/or manager in a cross-functional UI/UX team.
  • Deep understanding of the iOS and Android platforms and experience designing and launching products for both.
  • Proven success designing and optimizing high-quality product experiences for various platforms, including desktop, web, and mobile.
  • Mastery of UX interaction and design principles and deliverables, including rapid prototyping, concept diagrams, user scenarios, wireframes, flows, experience maps, design patterns, and annotated comps.
  • Architect system-wide design solutions that satisfy both product and engineering requirements.
  • Experience managing a team of 6-8 UI/UX designers and communicating with different departments of a multi-national company.
  • Working knowledge of web front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, iOS components, and Material Design.
  • Drive and willingness to go the extra mile with a strong work ethic.
  • Experience in other types of designs, such as online ads and print, is an advantage.
