Department Overview

The Finance team, led by the CFO in Hong Kong, is dedicated to delivering high-quality advice and relevant information to decision-makers and stakeholders. We prioritize building strong relationships with Partners, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering our services efficiently.

Role Overview

As a member of the Working Capital Team in Hong Kong, you will support Partners, stakeholders, and the finance team by:
  • Managing the financial aspects of the matter lifecycle, including inception, billing, collections, profitability analysis, and related reporting.
  • Acting as a commercial advisor to the business and fostering Partner relationships.
  • Overseeing the credit control function, focusing on managing and reducing locked-up days.

Responsibilities

Working Capital Management
  • Prepare monthly billing and collection forecasts, managing the end-to-end working capital cycle for Partners and practice groups.
  • Monitor aging balances and assist in estimating bad debt provisions.
  • Enhance the quality of service and seek efficiencies in managing the client financial lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the annual audit process by providing necessary samples and information related to WIP and debtor balances.
  • Manage rates within 3E, ensuring proper setup of matters and understanding client finance requirements.
  • Oversee the E-Billing process, coordinating invoice submissions and resolving issues promptly.
  • Facilitate client onboarding by liaising with the onboarding team and providing required documentation.
  • Monitor client funds, providing updates to Partners and seeking instructions on fund application.
  • Advise on billing and collection technical tax matters, collaborating with others as needed.
  • Prepare detailed financial information to support billing, including hourly schedules and disbursements.
  • Provide training to Legal PAs on billing and time narrative completion in 3E.
  • Collaborate with Working Capital Controllers across the network on cross-unit matters.
Client and Relationship Management
  • Utilize Pricing and Profitability Models to support Partners and the Working Capital Manager on pricing and profitability reporting.
  • Understand client rate agreements and assist in negotiations for global/regional clients.
  • Conduct regular meetings with Partners to review working capital on current matters.
  • Follow up on action items related to time transfers, write-offs, and disbursements.
  • Address inquiries from clients, Partners, and fee earners regarding financial aspects of client matters.
  • Develop relationships with finance contacts at key clients to ensure efficient processing of bills and collections.
  • Collaborate with BD teams across the network to provide financial support.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Three to five years of experience in credit control management, preferably in a professional services or B2B environment.
  • Strong influencing skills to drive effective decision-making among Partners and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex issues to diverse audiences.
  • Proactive and results-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a curious mindset.
Educational Background
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proficient technical skills, including advanced knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Elite 3E is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Fluency in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, with strong written and presentation skills.
