Job Description
The Critical Service Delivery project teams at Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited are responsible for designing and building IT infrastructure for our application systems. We aim to maintain the highest standards of IT quality by embracing new technologies and continuous process automation and improvement.

We are seeking an experienced Principal Database Specialist to join our Database team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the administration and support for our company-wide database infrastructure, playing a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our daily business activities. In this fast-paced environment, you will partner with application and infrastructure teams to operate our systems and drive innovation in sophisticated trading environments that demand stability, high throughput, and low latency.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform database administration and support services in Linux and Cloud platforms.
  2. Implement and support infrastructure solutions in high-performance trading environments.
  3. Provide support and implementation work to application teams, including database setup, migration, and SQL performance analysis.
  4. Advise on operating policies, technical architecture, and configuration of database systems.
  5. Administer and manage Oracle Databases / IBM DB2 / PostgreSQL / GaussDB, including monitoring, troubleshooting, installation, patching, and upgrade, performance tuning, backup, and recovery, stress testing, capacity planning.
  6. Implement compliance standards and perform regular system compliance reviews.
  7. Maintain high system availability and ensure all database systems function properly.
  8. Manage vendors to ensure high-quality delivery and implementation.

Requirements
  1. Degree holder in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or relevant discipline.
  2. Minimum 8 years of working experience in managing and supporting Oracle / IBM DB2 / PostgreSQL / GaussDB databases.
  3. Advanced knowledge of Oracle database, including RAC, ASM, DataGuard, data partitioning, load balancing, JDBC, ODBC, and integration with J2EE applications.
  4. Advanced knowledge of database high availability, partitioning, load balancing, security, backup, and recovery, and performance monitoring standards.
  5. Strong hands-on experience in shell script programming for process improvement and automation.
  6. Experience in AWS RDS, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB is an advantage.
  7. Experience in SQL, PL/SQL, and stored procedures.
  8. Experience in system programming and administration on Linux Platform.
  9. Project management experience in sizable-scale technology infrastructure implementation.
  10. Proactive, strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and analytical skills.
