About the Role:
Within Munich Re, the focus is on strategic transactions tailored for life insurance clients globally. This division is engaged in innovative business practices that encompass corporate finance and risk management for life insurers through structured reinsurance, hedging, and strategic risk transfer.
The Markets division has successfully developed and reinsured a variety of customized savings products on a global scale, equipped with the necessary infrastructure to manage risks associated with savings, retirement, and investment offerings. Currently, there is an expansion of the Global Modelling & Analytics team to cater to the increasing demand for strategic solutions and reinsurance of investment-linked insurance products across the APAC region.
The Global Modelling & Analytics team comprises approximately 15 specialists located in various hubs worldwide. A new local modelling capacity is being established to support business development and in-force structuring activities across APAC hubs.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and pricing of customized alternative reinsurance solutions.
- Conduct risk and profitability assessments of life insurance and reinsurance products.
- Develop suitable reinsurance solutions addressing accounting, regulatory, and economic risk transfer considerations.
- Enhance the methodological and technical development of pricing and modelling tools integrating traditional actuarial methods with financial mathematics.
- Provide expertise for strategic initiatives.
- Prepare and present on various life reinsurance topics to internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a primary liaison for Originators and Structurers in the APAC region, fostering market development and client relationships.
Your Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in life (re)insurance, investment banking, or actuarial consulting, along with a (post)graduate degree in mathematics, actuarial science, business economics, or a related discipline.
- In-depth knowledge of stochastic/statistical techniques, financial mathematics, and relevant international accounting and regulatory frameworks.
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python) or statistical computing languages (e.g., R) is advantageous.
- Experience in pricing and structuring bespoke reinsurance agreements or financial derivatives.
- Demonstrated integrity, responsibility, and a commitment to knowledge transfer.
- Strong project management skills coupled with analytical capabilities.
- Creativity, adaptability to new approaches, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in any additional major language is a plus.
