Job Overview

The Hong Kong International School is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Engineer to manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of its electrical and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the school's E&M systems, including electrical, mechanical ventilation, air conditioning, fire services, plumbing, drainage, and low-voltage systems.
  • Supervise outsourced contractors performing E&M work and maintain a sufficient stock of tools and materials.
  • Conduct regular inspections of E&M facilities and record results as directed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Develop and implement sustainable practices to reduce energy consumption and minimize environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager on various projects and initiatives, providing technical expertise and guidance.
  • Perform other duties and functions required to strengthen departmental contributions and overall school operations.

Qualifications and Experience

To succeed in this role, applicants must hold a technical institute degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, possess an EMSD Registered Electrical Worker (REW) license A or B, and preferably a WSD Licensed Plumber certification. A minimum of 5 years of experience in E&M system operation, maintenance, and installation is necessary, with experience in hotels, schools, or institutes being advantageous.

  • Strong knowledge of E&M system operation and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with AV system operation.
  • Proficiency in basic written and verbal English.
  • A strong understanding of general computer software (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel).
