About the Position

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking to hire a Research Associate (RA) to join our Healthcare division within the Investment Research Group, located in the APAC region, preferably in Hong Kong. The RA will concentrate on analyzing healthcare firms across the APAC landscape, aiming to generate unique insights through innovative inquiries, trend anticipation, risk identification, and recognition of potential disruptions in this dynamic sector. The successful candidate will be expected to articulate and implement these insights with a meticulous and analytical mindset. Collaboration with the senior healthcare Global Industry Research Analyst in the APAC region, as well as with portfolio managers and other Global Industry Analysts, will be essential. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities for this role include:

  • Conducting ongoing due diligence on healthcare companies in Emerging Markets Asia.
  • Keeping informed about significant macroeconomic and governmental policy changes in these regions.
  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive financial models to support the analysis of current and prospective investments.
  • Participating in company meetings, investment industry conferences, and specialized conferences relevant to the area of focus.
  • Completing intricate analytical projects under stringent deadlines.
  • Upholding the integrity of industry and comparative valuation models.
  • Contributing to written research outputs.
  • Providing investment recommendations to global investment teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

We seek a self-motivated, diligent team player with a strong interest in the healthcare sector and investment opportunities in APAC markets. This position is suitable for an individual with robust analytical skills, proficient financial modeling capabilities, and a willingness to leverage their expertise in support of Wellington's Global Industry Research Team.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree with a solid academic background.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in investment research, preferably within the healthcare sector.
  • Strong financial modeling expertise.
  • Excellent judgment, a strong work ethic, and the highest standards of personal and professional integrity.
  • A disciplined, bottom-up fundamental approach to research.
  • Proven analytical capabilities.
  • Self-awareness and resilience in the face of challenges.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate with experienced, cross-functional investment teams.
  • Capacity to work independently when necessary and make informed decisions amid uncertainty.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • CFA designation or progress towards its completion.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in an Asian language is a plus.
