About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Bakery Production Manager to lead our dynamic production team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the entire bakery production lifecycle, from planning and sourcing to delivering the highest quality baked goods. The ideal candidate is a natural leader, a problem-solver, and is passionate about maintaining excellence in food quality and safety. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Management: Directly oversee, mentor, and coach the bakery production team. Foster a positive, accountable, and high‑performing work culture. Production Planning: Develop and manage daily production schedules to efficiently meet customer demand, optimizing workflow, staff allocation, and resource use. Quality Control: Uphold the highest standards of product quality and consistency by conducting regular inspections and implementing rigorous quality control checks. Food Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health regulations. Lead regular training for staff on hygiene and safe practices. Inventory & Cost Control: Manage inventory levels, ingredient ordering, and production waste to ensure product freshness and minimize costs. Process Improvement: Proactively identify operational issues and bottlenecks. Collaborate with the team to develop and implement effective, practical solutions. New Product Development: Actively contribute to new product launches and R&D initiatives, providing valuable feedback to refine recipes and processes. Standardization: Develop, update, and enforce all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for production, equipment use, and opening/closing duties. Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with team members, senior management, and customers as required. Requirements A minimum of 5 years of experience in Food Production and/or Bakery Production. At least 1 year of experience in a manager‑grade position. Proven track record of independently managing a team of 5 or more people. In‑depth knowledge of HACCP, food safety standards, and quality assurance practices in a commercial bakery setting. Excellent problem‑solving skills with a demonstrated ability to identify issues and implement timely solutions. Meticulous attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability for product quality and team safety. Outstanding organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to perform under pressure. Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as per operational needs. A positive, collaborative leadership style with a commitment to continuous improvement.
