Engineer (PI)/Engineering Associate (PI), 5G/6G System Verification (5G Baseband Verification)

Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence spans five Technology Divisions: Advanced Electronic Components and Systems; Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies; Communications Technologies; IoT Sensing and AI Technologies; and Intelligent Perception and Control Technologies. ASTRI’s work covers six core areas: Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse. As of 2023/24, ASTRI has transferred more than 1,500 technologies to the industry and has been granted over 1,100 patents worldwide. Job Responsibilities Participate and contribute to physical layer (PHY) system verifications in ASTRI’s 5G/6G R&D projects. Engage in activities including the following: Develop and maintain test infrastructure for integrated system verification. Execute integrated system verification. Track and analyze verification results. Provide system support for DSP and FPGA implementation. Build up know‑how on 5G standardization. Job Requirements Master’s or Bachelor’s degree holder in Information Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines. Fresh graduates are welcomed. Knowledge of radio communications theory and digital signal processing. Background in cellular communication systems across PHY, MAC, and RF is preferred. Programming/scripting skills in MATLAB, Python, C/C++, Tcl/Tk a plus. Experience in Linux platform development is preferred. Proficiency in English and Chinese, both spoken and written, and good interpersonal and communication skills. Lives ASTRI values. The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical insurance coverage and contribution to MPF.
