Senior Storage Engineer

Job Summary This senior engineering role will be based in Hong Kong and focus on managing the Hong Kong Recover Site and Secure Tertiary Data Backup. The solution is heavily based on backup technologies using Cohesity. The role will also collaborate with the global team to deliver key strategies and standards for NAS, Block, and Object Storage in Standard Chartered Bank, ensuring the design and planning of storage technologies meet security and resilience standards. Responsibilities Understand the Group’s business strategy and model as it applies to the role. Identify and recommend new products or technologies that add value and align with storage strategic goals. Collaborate with Security Technology Services to ensure storage architecture meets bank security standards. Develop RFPs/RFIs, oversee product evaluations, coordinate selections, and ensure pricing, terms, and conditions meet IT standards. Maintain high availability and optimal performance of storage architecture. Ensure compliance with Architecture Framework processes, including Security Architecture, Technology Services Council, and Infrastructure Architecture Standards. Follow operational best practices, maintain ownership, accountability, and service levels. Uphold all bank technical, security, quality, and engineering standards across supported products. Ensure compliance with ITSM processes such as Incident, Change, and Problem Management. Manage storage product lifecycle, features, bugs, CVEs, and security standards. Identify, mitigate, and remediate risks and compliance issues promptly. Support auditory, regulatory, and risk initiatives related to storage engineering. Understand and comply with all relevant laws, regulations, anti‑money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions, and the Group Code of Conduct. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Proficiency in English. Technical Competencies Knowledge of NetApp ONTAP 9, hardware‑and‑software defined storage, and Dell Isilon. Experience with S3 Object Storage solutions. Technical knowledge of SAN Storage (Hitachi, Pure, Dell). Experience with backup solutions (Cohesity, Networker, NetBackup, ArcSuite). Architecture, design, implementation, and support of storage solutions. Storage security and standards. Python scripting and experience with BASH, KSH, PowerShell.
