The Opportunity The Sourcing Manager will own global component sourcing. You will methodically articulate specifications, build lasting relationships with hundreds of new suppliers, counter-source all key components, manage supplier scorecards, and help redesign materials, parts, and processes to reduce cost and improve quality. You should believe in win-win sourcing: not crushing margins, but relentlessly finding and nurturing the right long‑term partners. Rocco is a high‑growth startup (80% YoY). The right candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset and thrives in a fast‑paced environment, builds scalable processes, and adapts as we grow from startup to enterprise. Based in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Guangdong, or Hong Kong (negotiable), with ~60% travel, reporting to our Asia Director. Fluency in English and Mandarin required. Responsibilities Dual‑source 20+ major components (compressors, fans, PCBAs, hinges, doors, and more). Establish technical specifications, identify suppliers, run RFQs, negotiate prices, and support qualification. Conduct material breakdowns, should‑cost analysis and pricing benchmarks Identify cost savings and quality improvements through material substitutions, DFM/DFA redesigns, tolerance simplification, and alternative processing techniques. Support near‑shoring and qualification for non‑China plants. Track cost‑related factors such as tariffs and labor costs and suggest sourcing strategies. Own sourcing systems, including the costed BOM, sourcing dashboard, vendor CRM and negotiation playbook Longer‑term opportunity to expand into direct purchasing, planning, and finished‑goods sourcing Qualifications 7 - 15 years of experience in component sourcing for large appliances (commercial or residential); refrigerator experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or a related discipline Proven track record of sourcing‑led cost reduction and quality improvement, demonstrated through clear career progression Deep technical knowledge of materials and processes including steel, powder coating, injection molding, PCBAs, glass doors, compressors, and sealed systems Experience in startups or hyper‑growth companies: Able to build systems from zero, make decisions with imperfect information, relentlessly prioritize, and iterate quickly Excellent collaborator with factory teams, Asia operations, and U.S. headquarters Fluent written and verbal English and Mandarin Detail‑oriented, organized and analytical, using spreadsheets, cost models, and supplier scorecards as the source of truth Skilled negotiator who balances cost, quality, and long‑term partnership value Competitive base + performance bonus tied to PPV/lead‑time/sourcing milestones Seniority level Mid‑Senior level Employment type Full‑time Job function Purchasing and Supply Chain Industries Retail Furniture and Home Furnishings Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Rocco by 2x We’re unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
