Research Associate in Adversarial Learning We are looking for a Research Associate to work on a defence‑funded project focused on developing robust multimodal foundational models for continual situational understanding. The role will focus on developing adversarial models and attacks to evaluate the robustness and security of the model, and on proposing effective defence methodologies. Responsibilities Conduct both independent and collaborative research. Write scientific papers and reports for international journals. Participate in conferences and workshops. Supervise HDR students. Collaborate with industry partners. Qualifications and Experience PhD (or soon to be awarded) in computer science, electrical engineering or a related area with demonstrated experience in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Experience researching adversarial AI attacks and defence strategies. Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision. Track record of publications in top‑rated journals and conferences in the discipline. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills across disciplines. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders, external clients and students. Experience supervising undergraduate students or equivalent junior staff. Commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values, and relevant policies and guidelines. Ability to implement required UNSW health and safety policies and procedures. Details Salary: Level A – AUD$113,911 to $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation. Full time. Fixed‑term contract – 3 years starting in January 2026. Location: Kensington, Sydney, Australia.
