Working in the HKEX Sustainability Division, the role drives the integration of sustainability considerations into financial markets, promotes responsible investing and supports the transition to a low-carbon economy, oversees corporate responsibility and philanthropy initiatives, and develops and conveys HKEX’s sustainability narratives to stakeholders, enhancing HKEX’s leadership and reputation in sustainability. The role also leads the development, nurturing, and advocacy of Core Climate (our proprietary carbon marketplace) along with firm-wide ESG products which can shape global decarbonization trends for the future. Responsibilities Business Development Support new initiatives and business development of HKEX’s Sustainability strategy, with strong focus on collaborative opportunities with the Greater Bay Area and other parts of Mainland China. Provide insights and advice on the latest trends and evolution of relevant regulations regionally and internationally on Carbon and ESG products and their impacts on existing business models and development. Facilitate the development and implementation of corporate responsibility and philanthropy initiatives in conjunction with existing Carbon and ESG business models and developments. Governance Facilitate compliance with HKEX’s sustainability governance and ensure effectiveness in achieving sustainability goals throughout business development and strategies. Lead and assess the effectiveness of various market/industry forums and committees with ongoing assessment of alignment to evolving business developments and strategies. Review contracts covering engagement of vendors, IT contracts, regulatory cooperation and other aspects relating to Core Climate platform and other divisional initiatives. Lead and monitor compliance with policies and procedures, track and facilitate remediation of divisional risk and audit issues, and facilitate communication between first and second/third line functions. Daily Operations and Team Management Contribute to decision-making through value-add financial analysis, emerging trends analysis, resource planning, client analytics, and recommendations to senior management. Provide advice to department and senior management on operational, legal and regulatory issues arising from day-to-day operation, with collaboration with legal and secretarial service division, focusing on HKEX’s Core Climate platform. Oversee and monitor projects, regulate budgets and expenses, conduct evaluations and impact assessments, and compile reports and impact narratives. Manage and oversee the team’s objectives and deliverables, providing guidance and support to team members within and across the division. Requirements The ideal candidate should possess the following attributes: Bachelor’s degree preferably in Environmental Science / Management / Law, Geography, Chemistry or Sustainable Finance Over 10 years of experience in Carbon and ESG Market, and/or Corporate Responsibility or related fields; people management experience is essential Sound understanding of corporate governance and emerging trends in Carbon/ESG Market and Corporate Responsibility Strong business acumen with experience on Carbon and ESG products; experience in financial products, data, market regulation and controls is advantageous Collaborative and one-team mentality with strong commercial sense, analytical skills, and ability to work independently and support senior management Strong problem-solving skills; highly organized, numerical, analytical, meticulous and detail-oriented with excellent project management skills and experience working with multiple stakeholders Excellent written and spoken English and good Chinese language skills; proficiency in Putonghua preferred HKEX is committed as an Equal Opportunity Employer.
