Job Description - Patient Care Assistant II(Clinical Assistant) (NTWC-S ) Patient Care Assistant II(Clinical Assistant) - (REF. NO.: NTWC-S ) Application Deadline: 17 December 2025 Date of Issue: 3 December 2025 Vacancy Notification Circular No. NTWC-S Position: Patient Care Assistant (Clinical Assistant) Rank: Patient Care Assistant II Up to 5% of total basic salary as end‑of‑contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance. Key Responsibilities Perform the following core duties for patients: Blood‑taking and related duties including taking blood specimen and preparing blood specimen labels / blood‑taking materials, blood culture, blood‑taking for pediatric patients, blood glucose analysis using blood glucose meter etc. ECG for patients and related duties. Intravenous (IV) cannulation insertion and assessing the appropriate IV site. Taking care and monitoring patients’ condition while performing the blood‑taking, ECG or IV process and reporting to senior in case of abnormal situations. Preparing, cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing blood‑taking equipment, ECG machine, drug trolley and equipment in the ward / department. Ensuring adequate and appropriate equipment for blood‑taking, ECG and IV cannulation. Preparing specimen label under nurse guidance/direction and delivering / collecting specimen sample / result from laboratory / Pathology Department. Conducting routine quality check of the POCT equipment and assisting patients in performing POCT test. Perform other direct / indirect patient care related duties depending on the working unit/department which include: Assisting patients during medical check and other medical treatment procedures. Checking patient’s condition including measuring blood pressure, height and weight, urine test, etc. Handling clinical waste and patient transport. Operating necessary equipment required to perform the supporting services. Assisting in stock taking, collecting materials in ward, laboratory container, sterilizer and gauze, etc. Handling other clerical support duties, e.g. filling of laboratory reports, data entry etc. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Entry Requirements Completed F .5/ S.5 or equivalent (see Remarks). Holder of Corporate Patient Care Assistant (Clinical Assistant) (“PCA(CA)”) Training Program certificate which includes blood‑taking, ECG and IV Cannulation training organized by Hospital Authority (HA) (see Remarks). Good command of written Chinese, fluent spoken Cantonese and able to understand simple English. Preferred Attributes / Exposure Holder of Health Care Assistant or Care‑related Support Workers (CRSW) certificate. Possess relevant working experience and/or training in hospital or health‑care institution. Responsible, able to work independently and with good interpersonal skills. 2. Candidates who have not acquired the entry requirement (2) may also apply. The selected candidates will be required to attend Corporate PCA(CA) Training Program, complete the requisite assessments and tests. If the appointees cannot complete the PCA(CA) training and pass the assessments/tests, their employment with the HA may be terminated. For Serving HA Staff Serving staff who completed F.3 / S.3 with at least 2‑year care‑related experience may also apply.
