We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Assistant Vice President, Wealth Tax Operations Team Lead - Hybrid (Internal Job Title: Securities & Derivatives Sr Analyst – C12) based in Hong Kong. In this role, you’re expected to: Validation & Submission of non‑US tax & US Tax reports covering different jurisdictions and products. Analyzing tax transaction withholding processes – Front to Back. Quickly acquire Citi’s institutional knowledge to understand business segments and legal entities. Provide leadership and tax SME expertise to the Client Tax Operations team. Resolving issues/ Queries related to non‑US & US taxes related to reporting. Execute key controls through periodic testing. Communicate operational changes arising from remediation or process or control enhancements to other Operation units. Develop Business Requirements for system‑related enhancements and end‑to‑end management of implementation of new or amended taxes. Executing the roadmap to improve tax operations efficiency, controls, and resilience. Streamlining process inconsistencies, mitigate risks, and process documentation. Sharing knowledge among team to manage tax operations controls functions. Anticipate details of future taxations by communicating directly with key stakeholders and staying informed of relevant trends and updated industry practices. Driving projects and process improvements in collaboration with project lead, business, Technology, and relevant stakeholders. Reconciliation of positions and ensuring non‑US tax completeness, accuracy, and timeliness. Perform 3‑way reconciliation between tax authorities, clients, and custodians. Support all control functions including MCA, audits, procedures updates and implementation. Review and present metrics like functional dashboards, issue tracker or change management updates part of BAU function. Manage & monitor the key KPIs and metrics. Timely escalation of issues which impacts the tax processes, ensure root cause analysis, bank/client impact, Tax Authority/client settlement, P&L booking etc. is thoroughly reviewed, sharing regular transparent updates to the stakeholders and support to the E2E closure. Participation in governance forums. Close cooperation with Business and Tech partners on gap identification and process improvements. Supporting internal & external audit reviews in relation to Client Tax Operations & controls processes. Leading team, supporting the organization goals and evaluation of processes. Recruiting talents. Act as a manager when needed coordinating task allocation and completion within Client Tax Operations. Continue professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and best practices. As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure: A good track record of experience in a tax‑related area and good understanding of tax reporting and operational tax processes. Minimum 4‑6 years of experience in leading team. Solid experience in Tax Operations (Direct/Indirect Tax, Withholding TAX, Goods and Services Tax, Trading Tax etc.) Proven experience working with demanding business stakeholders within a cross‑functional matrix environment. Strong interpersonal skills to influence and spur change, facilitate, and enhance performance within a cross‑‑functional environment. Proven experience leading a team. Deep understanding of taxes and operational processes. Good understanding of Investments Products & Processes. Analytical thinking skills. Effective workload management. Effective, adjusted to recipient communication skills. Critical thinking and drawing logic conclusions. Adequate level of proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint with experience presenting to stakeholders and senior leadership stakeholders. Experience working in a collaborative environment both independently and team specific. Flexible with proven ability to manage shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem‑solving capabilities. Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience, preferably MBA – finance and banking. Overall experience and acquaintance working in a corporate culture. Implement globally consistent and standard tax operational processes, procedures across all client segments under wealth. E2E Understanding of Non‑US Taxes (VAT/GST) withholding processes across the organization and have extensive knowledge on the Revenue & GST GLs. Establish a globally unified and efficient operating model for Wealth Operations and focus on integrating consistent processes, tools, governance models.
