Job Purpose We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Marine Underwriter to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for evaluating and underwriting marine hull and marine war risks. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to support our growing portfolio, ensure underwriting excellence, and contribute to ART's strategic goals in the Asia Pacific region and beyond. Key Responsibilities Risk Assessment & Underwriting: Evaluate, assess, and underwrite marine hull and marine war insurance risks in line with the company's underwriting philosophy, appetite, and authority limits. Portfolio Management: Support the development and management of a balanced and profitable book of business. Client & Broker Relations: Establish, develop, and expand relationships with brokers and customers. Work closely with them to understand their specific needs, negotiate policy terms, and develop customized insurance solutions. Data Analysis & Decision Making: Compile and analyze data from various sources, such as shipping routes and vessel details, to inform underwriting decisions and determine appropriate premiums and coverage limits. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all underwriting activities and policies comply with internal policies, as well as legal and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate and detailed records of underwriting activities and decisions. Team Collaboration: Provide support and assistance to senior team members and contribute to the overall underwriting strategy and business planning process. Qualifications & Skills Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in marine underwriting, with specific experience and a strong understanding of Marine Hull and Marine War risks. Education: At least a Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping Law, or a related relevant discipline is preferred. Industry Knowledge: Solid knowledge of the insurance market, policy forms, and the specific legal and regulatory landscape of marine insurance. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed, sound underwriting decisions. Communication Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders, including brokers and clients.
