Job Description Clifford Chance is seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Client & Market Development Coordinator to support the Client & Market Development (CMD) function across our Hong Kong and China practices. This is a varied and engaging role, offering the opportunity to work closely with fee earners and CMD colleagues to deliver high‑quality business development support. Key Responsibilities Pitch Support: Manage the full pitch lifecycle (in both English and Mandarin Chinese), ensuring timely, accurate, and compelling submissions. Directories & Awards: Coordinate legal directory and awards submissions, advising on best practices for showcasing expertise. Marketing Materials: Maintain and update pitch materials, CVs, and deal credential databases for consistency and accessibility. Events: Assist with organising client‑facing events, including logistics and on‑the‑day support in Hong Kong. Act as a trusted advisor to fee earners, taking ownership of complex proposals, pitches, and capability statements with minimal supervision. Partner with regional and global CMD teams to deliver cross‑practice and cross‑office pitch initiatives, ensuring alignment and consistency. Oversee the end‑to‑end pitch process, including conducting targeted research and analysis, drafting and tailoring materials in both English and Mandarin Chinese, managing post‑pitch follow‑up, and updating the Firm’s global pitch database (Foundation). Work with CMD colleagues to ensure that Hong Kong, China and regional marketing materials are regularly reviewed, updated, and aligned with current priorities. Support the development and implementation of processes to capture and maintain deal credentials, ensuring accurate recording and integration into marketing assets and databases. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of market trends, client priorities and industry developments to identify new business opportunities. Support the growth of existing client relationships by identifying opportunities for deeper engagement and tailored service offerings. Help raise the profile of the practice by contributing to the planning and execution of targeted events, conferences and client seminars. Proactively identify and coordinate cross‑selling opportunities across practices, sectors and client teams to support integrated client development efforts. Maintain and regularly update targeted client lists within the Firm’s CRM system (InterAction), ensuring accuracy and relevance. Collaborate closely with the Brand, Communications & Marketing (BCM) team and fee earners to enhance the Firm’s profile through targeted marketing communications, thought leadership publications and award submissions. Manage and coordinate all aspects of client‑facing events, including guest list preparation, presentation materials, speaker arrangements and logistical planning. Provide administrative support throughout the event lifecycle, tracking RSVPs, sending updates to fee earners and stakeholders, and maintaining accurate attendance records. Liaise with the wider Facilities and Business Services teams to ensure seamless delivery of both internal and external events. Ensure all event‑related materials and communications are prepared and distributed in a timely and organised manner. What We’re Looking For Hands‑on approach with excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail. Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken) is essential for client communications and pitch materials. Flexibility around working hours to support time‑sensitive or urgent requests outside standard office hours. Qualifications Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar business development or marketing role, ideally within a professional services or legal environment. Candidates from other backgrounds who are passionate about transitioning into this field are also encouraged to apply. Flexibility around working hours is essential. Exposure to or experience in managing competitive proposals and pitches, with an understanding of client expectations and market dynamics. Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Meticulous eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high‑quality work under pressure. Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and ideally familiarity with CRM systems such as InterAction. Proactive, service‑oriented mindset with a positive attitude and genuine interest in supporting fee earners. Cultural awareness and the ability to work effectively across different business environments and geographies. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with partners, lawyers and colleagues across the CMD teams.
