Senior Legal Counsel

Senior Legal Counsel (Hospitality Group Corporate Office) Dorsett Hospitality International is seeking an accomplished Senior Legal Counsel to lead the Group’s Legal and Compliance function. This pivotal leadership role will oversee all legal, compliance, and corporate governance matters across our international hospitality portfolio. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in corporate hospitality, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, delegation of authority, and listed group governance. With strong international exposure, particularly in complex cross‑border transactions and compliance management, this role will ensure Dorsett’s legal framework supports business growth, safeguards stakeholder interests, and upholds the highest standards of ethics and integrity. Principal Accountabilities Leadership & Team Management Lead, manage, and mentor the global Legal and Compliance team, ensuring alignment with the Group’s strategic priorities and values. Drive effective resource allocation, succession planning, and professional development across regions. Foster a culture of ethics, compliance, and accountability across the organization. Corporate Governance & Compliance Develop, implement, and oversee corporate governance policies and a robust delegation of authority framework. Ensure compliance with Listing Rules, regulatory requirements, ESG obligations, and corporate social responsibility initiatives. Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate legal, regulatory, financial, and reputational risks. Manage investigations and resolution processes for potential non‑compliance. Stakeholder Collaboration Act as a trusted advisor to the Board, senior management, and business units on legal, compliance, and risk matters. Partner with internal stakeholders to integrate compliance frameworks into business processes and hotel operations. Liaise with external counsel on litigation, dispute resolution, and specialized legal matters. Planning & Budgeting Establish and manage the annual plan and budget for the Legal and Compliance department. Ensure efficient resource allocation and cost‑effective use of external legal support. Monitor and analyse changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards affecting the hospitality sector. Lead training initiatives to build awareness and compliance across the organization. Person Requirement Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with postgraduate legal qualifications (required). Years of Experience Minimum of 15 years post qualification experience, with substantive experience in corporate/commercial law, mergers & acquisitions, listing rules and hospitality or related industries. Area of Experience At least 10 years’ experience in an in‑house capacity, preferably within a listed international hospitality or real‑estate group. Proven track record in managing cross‑border transactions, due diligence, and complex corporate governance matters. Other Professional Qualifications / Technical Skills / Knowledge required Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction (Hong Kong, England & Wales, Australia, or Singapore). Strong understanding of Listing Rules and listed group requirements. Financial literacy and commercial acumen (preferred). Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to influence at all levels. Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, international environment. Strong ethical judgment, integrity, and discretion.
