Join us in our mission to inspire creativity and joy through our unique offerings Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Sustainability Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will lead sustainability compliance and data management for LEGO licensed products, ensuring alignment with global environmental standards and corporate responsibility goals. You will play a key part in driving supplier engagement, emissions reporting, sustainable material adoption, and regulatory compliance across our supply chain. Candidates with less experience will be considered as Assistant Sustainability Engineer. Key Responsibilities: Ensure sustainability compliance for LEGO licensed products in accordance with LEGO’s Responsible Business Principles (RBP), Climate Disclosure Project (CDP) requirements, and recycled material standards. Develop and execute supplier engagement strategies for climate‑related initiatives, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions reporting, CDP reporting, and renewable energy adoption aligned with LEGO’s targets. Collect, validate, and manage product and packaging data, including bills of materials and sourcing details, to support accurate carbon footprint reporting and periodic performance reviews (i.e. monthly/quarterly/annual regular reports - materials, origin, volume). Monitor and support the implementation of sustainable packaging and sourcing requirements, including the phase‑out of single‑use plastics and compliance with FSC and EUDR regulations, related to paper, wood, and packaging materials. Lead projects related to the development and integration of recycled and bio‑based plastic materials in line with LEGO’s sustainability roadmap, preparing detailed quarterly progress reports. Create and maintain internal sustainability dashboards, KPI reports, training materials, and procedural documentation for cross‑functional teams and supplier networks. Create clear sustainability procedures, checklists, and guidance documents for suppliers and internal stakeholders. Assist with additional RBP compliance activities, including ethical supplier reporting, corrective action plans, and factory audit coordination. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in sustainability, preferably within a buying office, manufacturing, or consumer goods environment; toy industry experience is a plus. Solid knowledge of environmental compliance frameworks, including GHG Protocol (Scope 1/2/3), CDP reporting, FSC certification, and EUDR chain‑of‑custody requirements. Familiarity with sustainable material certifications such as GRS/RCS for recycled content and ISCC Plus for bio‑based plastics, as well as renewable energy project implementation. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese, with the ability to collaborate effectively with international teams, conduct supplier training, and manage stakeholder follow‑ups.
