Assistant Manager - Project Management (Generation Engineering) We are looking for an energetic and self-driven professional to join the Generation Engineering Department of our Generation Business Group. Reporting to the Project Manager, the appointee will be responsible for participating in the development and execution of new construction, redevelopment, upgrades or major plant engineering projects of the power generation facilities. Major duties include: In collaboration with project team members, develop and define project basis, prepare specifications, evaluate tenders and make recommendations for contract award, develop project execution plans, and oversee the execution of a portfolio of projects to ensure safe implementation within pre-defined cost targets, timeframe, quality and performance objectives. Lead engineering and construction of assigned projects, supervise contractors’ activities, and collaborate with relevant project stakeholders to achieve safe and cost-effective project delivery in full compliance with CLP Power internal policies and relevant statutory requirements. Review design submissions, construction schedules, techniques to ensure the technical integrity of project and the contractor’s conformity with contract terms and specification. Manage changes of work and handover the completed systems and documentation to asset owners. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and implement best practices in construction safety throughout project development, specification, design review, construction and commissioning of works, and to resolve conflicts and disputes that may arise. Conduct frequent site inspections to monitor progress, safety and quality of works, and collaborate with contractors to identify and implement continuous improvement initiative to achieve world class safety, health, environmental and quality standards. Proactively identify emerging critical issues and risks that may impact project performance and put in place effective mitigation / control measures and stakeholder management plan to ensure the project remains on track. Liaise with equipment manufacturers, suppliers, services contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance requirements can satisfy the company business needs and all statutory requirements. Support the development of contracting strategies to ensure a close partnership with quality contractors. The appointee will be required to work in the Power Stations located at Tuen Mun area. Requirements: A recognized university engineering degree in Electrical or Electronic discipline or equivalent plus at least 5 years relevant working experience. Professional qualification from HKIE or other recognized engineering professional bodies is preferred. Professional qualification in any project management certification program would be an advantage. Track record in project management including the development, engineering and execution of multi-disciplinary, large scale industrial projects in Hong Kong. Prior exposure in power station design and construction or operation and maintenance will be desirable. Conversant with the latest code of practice, engineering standards, statutory requirements and SHEQ requirements pertaining to maintenance and project works in the generation/ construction industry. Good hands‑on contractual & commercial skill on top of the typical technical competency. Previous experience in managing large scale contracts as Contract Responsible Officer is desirable. Practical knowledge and experience in personnel safety, safe systems of works and process safety to ensure projects are designed, constructed and operated safely in line with industry’s best practice. Proven supervisory, interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, good team player. Proficient in specification writing, report and proposal compilation. Good command of English and Chinese, and excellence in communication with project stakeholders, consultants, contractors and workforce. Putonghua would be advantageous.
