Role Summary The Building Management System (BMS) Subject Matter Expert plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of data center infrastructure. This position focuses on the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of key systems, including HVAC, power distribution, lighting, and fire safety, to support 24/7 data center operations. A strong background in mission-critical environments is essential to maintain optimal environmental conditions and prevent downtime. Key Responsibilities Strategic BMS Management & Optimization Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for the BMS, focusing on reliability, energy efficiency, and scalability. Lead the lifecycle management of the BMS platform, including hardware and software upgrades, patches, and system enhancements. Implement and manage a robust BMS change management (MOP) process for all modifications. Develop and implement BMS strategies, policies, and procedures Maintenance & Troubleshooting Oversee planned and reactive maintenance of BMS components. Diagnose and resolve system faults to minimize downtime. Project Oversight Manage the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of BMs systems. Coordinate with contractors, vendors and internal teams during project execution Serve as the primary owner of the relationship with BMS vendors (e.g., Schneider Electric, Siemens, Honeywell), acting as the single point of contact for all technical and contractual matters. Manage and administer all BMS-related support and maintenance contracts, ensuring scope, SLAs, and pricing are clearly defined and met. Lead the technical evaluation and selection process for new BMS vendors and solutions, ensuring they meet company standards for compatibility, security, and support. Review and approve vendor-proposed Method of Procedures (MOPs) for all maintenance and upgrade activities to ensure they meet site safety and operational standards. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of DC Tech Operation Engineers and Facilities Engineers. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and rigorous adherence to procedures. Compliance & Documentation Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and method of procedures (MOPs). Oversee the BMS user access control policy to ensure system security. Ensure all systems meet safety, quality, and statutory compliance standards. Maintain documentation and records for audits and inspections. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Electronics Engineering or a related discipline. Deep expertise with major BMS platforms (e.g., Schneider Electric EcoStruxure is advantage) Minimum 8 years practical experience with data centre equipment such as switchgears, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, control systems, security monitoring systems, and fire safety systems. Strong understanding of equipment start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting in live systems. Hands‑on experience with BMS/IBMS systems, including diagnostics and troubleshooting in operational environments. Proven experience in data centre operations and project execution. Detail‑oriented, able to manage multiple assignments in a fast‑paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication in English.
