Overview The “SEN Tutoring Project” aims to provide evidence-based quality one-to-one on-site academic support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). It is suitable for SEN (dyslexia, concentration problems, autism, etc.) and those who encounter any problems in learning. Edge Development Centre built a training platform to train SEN tutors specialized in academic support of students with three types of SEN in focus: Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Specific Learning Difficulties in Reading and Writing (SpLD). SEN tutors who have successfully completed the specialized training will provide academic support to SEN students, under direct supervision of Educational Psychologists and SEN teacher from Edge Development Centre. Job Description This is a part-time role as an SEN tutor at Edge Development Centre, with flexible working hours. The tutor will provide one-to-one on-site tutoring service that includes specific training elements for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Free Training Program Online training will be provided by university professors, lecturers, educational psychologists, speech therapists, and social workers. You will receive a certificate at the end of the contract upon completion of the whole training module and with satisfactory performance; Additional modules ABA 40-hour training are available for free. You will be closely supervised by educational psychologists (EP) and SEN teachers. Additionally, you will also receive guidance on how to accommodate the needs of SEN students. Periodical case conferences and workshops will be conducted to share effective strategies and methods. Job requirements Current students or graduates of undergraduate degree or above (Psychology/Education/Therapy-related majors is an advantage) Private tutoring/teaching experience is preferred, especially SEN related Other Requirements As students with SEN require good continuity of care, once a case is assigned, the tutors must be responsible for the case for at least a half year (typically 26 weeks, including school holidays). Be sure you are able to provide service from Monday to Friday (at least two days), 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM (at least two hours each day), AND some time on Saturday or Sunday. Only sick leave will be permitted. Location Tutorials are usually provided at the student's home. Some classes are held at our Kwun Tong Centre.
