Speech Therapist (KCC ) Position: Speech Therapist Rank: Speech Therapist Speech Therapy Department, Kowloon Central Cluster Pay: HK$39,485 to HK$87,341 (HGPS Point 16 to 33) per month including Monthly Allowance Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff at the end of each 3 years during the 9‑year contract period subject to satisfactory performance. Key Responsibilities Primary Function To deliver speech therapy services appropriate to their level of competency to achieve desired health outcomes by providing current, rational, safe and cost‑effective speech therapy information and services. Key Result Areas / Job Description Patient Care process Provide assessment and treatment to patients with general communication and swallowing disorders independently. Deliver speech therapy services to complicated and difficult cases under the guidance of senior speech therapists. Conduct high risk procedures / specialized tests under the guidance of senior speech therapists. Provide counseling / education to patients and carers to maximise the positive benefits of the delivered therapy. Provide accurate, adequate and appropriate speech therapy information to patients and carers in a timely manner. Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely for effective case management. Participate in multi‑disciplinary healthcare programmes. Other Professional Duties Participate in the following activities under the direction of senior speech therapists: Collect, organise and evaluate clinical information for management use and clinical research. Provide educational / training and development programmes for speech therapy staff and other health professionals. Develop treatment protocols, guidelines and standards. Conduct training for speech therapy students. Managerial and Administrative Duties Ensure smooth day‑to‑day operation of the speech therapy service in an institution. Manage and monitor the work of supporting staff. Quality and Risk Management Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Comply with the legal requirement, occupational safety and health requirements, established policies and practice standards in daily practice. Knowledge and Skills Maintain effective working relationship with other health professionals. Demonstrate professional and ethical conduct in all job‑related activities and comply with legal requirements, occupational safety and health requirements, policies and practice standards. Organise and prioritise work assignments to ensure optimal performance in his/her own duties. Training and Development Participate in in‑service training programmes. Entry Requirements A degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from a local university or equivalent. Language proficiency: Grade E in English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent; OR Level 2 in English Language and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education, or equivalent. Fluency in written English and Chinese as well as spoken English and Cantonese. Depending on service needs, the selected candidate would be posted to Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Wong Tai Sin Hospital and may be required to work in another location to meet the service needs of the HA.
