Overview Outward Bound Hong Kong is a non-profit and a leading outdoor educational organization that adopts experiential learning to help people discover and unleash their potential. We are part of an international network that delivers courses in over 30 different countries. Our mission is to enable youth to discover and develop their potential to care for themselves, others, and the world through challenging experiences in unfamiliar settings. Initially operating from a site at Tai Mong Tsai (TMT) in the New Territories, the ‘original’ courses made use of the remote hills, beaches and islands to deliver transformative experiences for youth from a range of backgrounds. The past 55 years have seen significant growth, having developed a remote island base at Wong Wan Chau in the Double Haven Marine Park as well as the Ah Kung Wan training site located close to the TMT base. Given our location, the surrounding coastal waters are the most common location for our courses, although the hills of the nearby Country Parks offer impressive locations for programming at certain times of the year. Your Mission: Short-Term Instructor We are seeking a few Short-Term Instructors, who are passionate and driven individuals to join our Operations Team. Primary Roles & Responsibilities Provide the best educational outcomes for Outward Bound Hong Kong’s clients To be an independent and self-sufficient instructor running a wide variety of programme in both residential and journey-based settings using sea kayaking, hiking and sailing as the mode of transport (dependent upon skills and experience) To maintain high standard of risk mitigation and safety Foster strong working relationships across different departments, contributing to a cohesive operational environment Serve as a mentor and positive role model for participants and fellow instructors, promoting a professional and supportive community Bronze Medallion Life Saving or equivalent (e.g. BCU Foundation Safety & Rescue / RLSS Bronze Medallion) First Aid Certificate (including AED) or above (e.g. Wilderness First Responder) Technical skill and experience in sea kayaking, rock climbing, low ropes and mountaineering Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with schools, youth groups and corporate clients Completion of an outdoor training program (e.g. Degree, Diploma, HNC) Any relevant National Governing Body (NGB) assessed awards Outward Bound experience (other experiential education providers will also be considered) Who You Are A belief in developing human potential and mission of Outward Bound Open and honest communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal staff and external clients Energetic, proactive, and a natural relationship builder with a “can-do” spirit Willingness to be flexible in regard to situations, working hours and weather conditions An eye for detail and safety Possess strong problem-solving and decision-making skills What We Offer 6 months contract commencing January 2026 10 days’ rest day a month Shared accommodation on the Tai Mong Tsai base in Sai Kung (own room) A meaningful career with purpose Work in the beautiful Sai Kung area, surrounded by nature To apply To apply, please send your resume and availability to: #J-18808-Ljbffr
