Business Analyst

A strategic and proactive IT Business Partner to act as the primary liaison between our business units and the IT organization. The role is critical in driving the bank’s digital transformation agenda, enhancing customer experience, and optimizing operational efficiency. Responsible for translating business vision, challenges, and opportunities into executable technology roadmaps and leading high‑value solution delivery. Possess a strong blend of banking domain knowledge, technical acumen, and relationship management skills to ensure IT investments deliver maximum business value in a fast‑paced banking environment. Partner with business heads to define their technology roadmaps, aligning with the bank’s strategic plan. Conduct regular meetings with business unit leaders to understand their objectives, challenges, and upcoming initiatives. Elicit and structure complex business requirements, guiding stakeholders through the process to ensure solutions are sustainable and fully address root causes. Analyze business processes, identify gaps, and propose technology‑enabled improvements. Collaborate with Architects, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure solutions are robust, secure, and adhere to HKMA regulatory requirements (e.g., cybersecurity, data protection). Oversee the project lifecycle for business‑initiated projects from initiation through to post‑implementation review. Lead and oversee a portfolio of projects including digital channel development (e.g., mobile banking, e‑banking), banking products system implementations, process re‑engineering, and operational efficiency programs. Act as a key leader in major transformation programs such as major system replacements or key business partnership integrations. Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies (e.g., FinTech, API banking, AI), assessing their potential application to the bank’s product and services. Prepare and present regular reports on project status, portfolio health, and IT value metrics to senior management. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Finance, or a related discipline. Master’s degree is preferable. 10–15 years of proven experience in the financial services sector, with strategic IT Business Partnering or IT managerial position directly supporting banking domains. Must have extensive experience working within or partnering with major Hong Kong Bank or Mainland Group, familiarity with the local regulatory landscape (HKMA) is essential. Deep domain knowledge of banking products and processes. Proven track record in leading end‑to‑end digital project delivery, specific hands‑on experience such as Mobile Banking Applications, Open API partnerships, and core banking system implementations/enhancements or Cloud‑based applications. Strong understanding of technology integration, enterprise architecture principles, and software development lifecycles (both Waterfall and Agile). Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills, with a demonstrable history of building trusted relationships with senior business management levels to influence strategy. Strong financial and commercial acumen, including experience building business cases, managing large‑scale IT budgets, and controlling project costs. Proven leadership in managing, coaching, and mobilizing large cross‑functional, and geographically dispersed technology teams. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills, with the ability to translate complex business problems into clear technology solutions. Knowledge of FinTech technologies such as blockchain and cryptocurrency is preferable. Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile certifications (CSM), or similar certifications highly preferred. Experience with Information Security Management standards within a banking context is preferable. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese as well as fluency in Putonghua.
