AI Integration, Web Architecture and Development Framework

Responsibilities

The Software Engineers are expected to be involved in the development of AI educational toolkits in EduAIR. He/she will conduct research and development tasks that are assigned by the director. He/she is required to station and work at the Hong Kong Science Park, with occasional travels to the Chinese University of Hong Kong when needed. The position is recruited under the scheme of Research Talent Hub (RTH) of Innovation Technology Commissioner.

The key responsibility includes:

  • Research, design, develop, and maintain software for our toolkit, with a focus on either web platform or microcontroller programming.
  • Program microcontrollers such as STM32, Arduino, and ESP32 for wireless communication and hardware integration.
  • Conduct debugging, testing, and performance optimization to ensure system reliability and scalability.

Requirements

Applicants should have a bachelor's degree or above preferably in electronics, electrical or computer engineering, computer science, information engineering or equivalent. He/ She must be legally permitted to work in Hong Kong ; and in possession of a bachelor's degree or above of a STEM (i.e. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)-related discipline awarded by a local university, or jointly awarded by a local university together with a non-local university. Specifically, candidates fulfilling following requirements are preferred (but not limited to):

  • At least 2 years of software development experience (projects during undergraduate studies);
  • Familiar with programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java;
  • Familiar with AI algorithms, and knowledge in machine learning frameworks such as Tensorflow and PyTorch;
  • Familiar with IT collaboration tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket;
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following areas:
  • Front-end Web Platform Development:
  • Familiar with RESTful APIs or GraphQL for front-end integration;
  • Familiar with web-based AI processing such as TensorFlow.js or Brain.js.
  • Back-end Web Platform Development:
  • Experience with back-end technologies such as Node.js, Express.js, or other server-side frameworks;
  • Understanding of database management systems like MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL;
  • Knowledge of server-side architecture, API development, and security best practices.
  • Familiar with microcontrollers such as STM32, Arduino, and ESP32;
  • Hands-on experience with communication protocol such as I2C, SPI, UART, PWM and GPIO;
  • Experience with ESP32, nRF24L01, or LoRa modules for wireless communication is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Passion for innovation and education technology.

The ideal candidate should have strong R&D motivation and sense of responsibility, ability to multi-task and work independently, and a good command of written and spoken English.

Terms of Appointment

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. (Duration: 1 year, renewable)
