accountable for operational risk monitoring, governance and management activities of Asia Asset Management, inclusive of the asset management and investment functions across Asia.The incumbent will support the design and implementation of the operational risk management framework that applies to all investment functions in Asia, while in parallel, work closely with counterparts from Asia Business Units, internal stakeholders from Asia Regional Office, SLC Management and external service providers to ensure robust and globally-aligned operational risk management processes are in place.This role will report to the Managing Director, Operational Risk, Asia Asset Management who is accountable for Operational Risk Management within Asia Asset Management.Major AccountabilitiesImplement Operational Risk Management Process within Asia Asset Management (50%)With a specific focus on the Hong Kong based asset management firm, Sun Life Investment Management Asia Limited (SLIMA) implement operational risk management processes inclusive of:Critically review and assess the existing operational risk management policies, processes and capabilities Implement an operational risk event monitoring and reporting program in accordance with Enterprise standards Be a key point of contact and resource to support third party risk management programs Implement the Sun Life Group Risk Management Framework standards like model risk program, business continuity program / disaster recovery (BCP / DR), Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSAs), and other operational risk programs Support reporting to local & regional committees Support the design and build for a regional Asia Asset Management Operational Risk Framework (30%)Leverage the SLIMA capability to support deployment of a regionally consistent operational risk management framework based on investment industry best practice, which is also fit-for-purpose and aligned with Sun Life Enterprise standards Erect a responsive and effective operational risk / issue assessment, escalation and reporting process Define and embed operational risk assessment processes / checkpoints in process manuals of all investment functions Coordinate the management of regional BCP / DR management protocols for Asia Asset Management Support Ongoing Operational Risk Management (20%)Coordinate on-going operational investment risk management activities, including but not limited to, regular RCSAs, operational risk monitoring, process review, vendors onboarding / management, data governance review, BCP drills, incidents resolution / escalation, etc. Implement appropriate risk mitigation actions and regularly report to the leadership of Asia Investment functions, SLC Management and Asia Regional Office Conduct regular training and reinforcement program on operational risk to all investment & SLIMA staff Partner with Enterprise Asset Management 2LOD Risk, Asia Regional Office and SLC Management to review overall operational risk of Asia Asset Management business, and lead the resolution of any residual risk items Continuously identify improvement areas based on our business growth, product / service breath, and latest industry trends Support regional & global initiatives from operational risk perspective, where applicable Specialized knowledgeDeep knowledge in asset management, operational risk framework for portfolio management / trading / settlement / valuation / regulatory reporting, investment data model, relationship with key service providers, etc. Specific knowledge / experience in designing an operational risk management framework Project and change management Education And ExperienceUniversity degree in Finance, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, or other related disciplines 8+ years of work experience in similar capacities at asset managers or investment banks with exposure across major asset classes and investment vehicles Experience in managing regional operational risk management framework Familiar with regulatory frameworks related to asset management and risk management in particular in the region, especially Hong Kong (SFC) Knowledge of risk management applications (for example Archer would be a plus) Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and being able to influence stakeholders from varying functions / background / geographical locations Strong client service orientation with “can-do” attitude Excellent command of English Communication ScopeExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with
